Kayanaberd

The fortress Kayanaberd was founded in the 13th century

The fortress Kayanaberd (another name – Dsevank) is located in a picturesque site - on a mountain peak between two gorges.
It was founded in the 13th century by Bishop Hovhannes, but was quickly destroyed by the Mongols who attacked Armenia. Visiting the bastion, tourists will be able to imagine what the medieval city looked like. The territory has preserved the ruins of various buildings, pools for storing water and even the remains of an ancient water supply.

Particular attention of travelers is attracted by the Dsevan church of Surb Astvatsatsin, which has preserved up to this day. From the top there is a beautiful view of the gorge and the mountainous landscapes.
